眼前的这一幕让我很疑惑，只见工人在坩锅中熔炼金属时还没开火就先往里面洒了一勺粉末。不仅如此，他还抓了把玻璃碎渣。这样做的目的是什么？
·先来说说这白白的粉末，它其实是硼砂，被洒在已经熔化的金属上后就变成了玻璃状，开始咕咕的冒泡，用搅拌棒搅合搅合，不一会儿上面就出现了一层浮渣。接着工人会用勺子将它们捞出，这个过程叫撇渣。
而在这里硼砂充当的是助熔剂的角色，锻造焊接时金属与氧气接触后会生成氧化物，它们是炉渣的主要成分。而加热熔融下硼砂会分离出氧化硼与金属氧化物发生反应，一来它可以消除已经形成的氧化渣，降低金属损耗。另外它还能阻止新的氧化物形成，保护金属表面。
·说完了这个再来看玻璃，主要成分是硅酸盐和氧化物，熔炼的过程中会形成一种介于晶体和液体之间的无定形物质，即玻璃相。它能作为覆盖剂隔绝金属熔体和氧气接触。除此之外硼砂和玻璃还能降低熔渣的熔点，促进渣金分离以及改善熔体的流动性，帮助杂质上浮。
我很好奇这些残留的废渣会怎么处理？它们还有什么用处吗？以钢渣为例，最常见的应该就是热泼法，直接把热态钢渣倒到空地上就行，只不过这种方法对环境污染很严重。
·第二种是蒸汽陈化法，它采用压热闷罐技术。首先要把钢渣倒进闷罐中，然后往里面注水，这时罐内便会产生高温高压的饱和水蒸气将钢渣粉化。还有就是把钢渣放到滚筒中，在水和机械力的共同作用下冷却粒化。
因为强度和耐磨性较高，所以经过处理后的钢渣会被作为路基材料应用在道路建设中，比如生产钢渣水泥-混凝土等。此外就是添加在烧结原料中，钢渣中含有SiO2、Fe203、AI203等物质，作为配料可以节省原材料。再或者用它吸附污水重金属，实现以废治废！
